PAST PRESENT

GALERIE TSCHUDI  ZUOZ  2015

I really liked Richard Long’s works especially the ones with very crisp, clean lines. I found his work to be very satisfying to look at. His work also reminded me a lot of Andy Goldsworthy, specifically with his use of circles. Both artists mold natural elements into circular shapes. I appreciated the placement of this work. The line between the blue and white rocks lines up perfectly with the line in the hardwood floor. I am curious to know if the blue rocks were that color when he found them or if he stained or painted them. The title of the work is Past Present which leads me to think the blue side represents the past and the white side represents the present. Maybe this is because the past has already been “colored in” and the present is open to possibilities, or a blank canvas.
